I created my original bee honey pot for a local honey company that operates out of the foothills. However, I felt that it needed a bit of a makeover so I turned to Instagram, where I received a great deal of collaborative input.
This honey pot is thrown on the wheel using porcelain stoneware clay in my studio, located in Calgary, Alberta. The graphic on the pot has been hand-carved into the surface using the sgraffito technique, which involves covering the mug's surface with my handmade black slip and carving away until the image is finished. This means you can feel the slightly raised carved texture. While I create different series of designs, each pot is made and decorated individually, so that no two pieces are identical, and each design is matched with one of my brightly coloured glazes.
Sizing: All of my pots are handmade, so their individual sizes may differ slightly. I do my best to keep them as consistent as possible. Approximately 650mL Stands about 16cm tall and is 9cm wide at the base
