This bowl is thrown on the wheel using porcelain stoneware clay in my studio, located in Calgary, Alberta. The graphic on the bowl has been hand-carved into the surface using the sgraffito technique, which involves covering the bowl's surface with my handmade black slip and carving away until the image is finished. This means you can feel the slightly raised, carved texture as when you wrap your hands around a warm bowl of soup. While I create different series of designs each bowl is made and decorated individually, so that no two pieces are identical, and each design is matched with one of my brightly coloured glazes.
Sizing: All of my bowls are handmade, so their individual sizes may differ slightly. I do my best to keep them as consistent as possible. Approximately 400mL Stands about 6.5cm tall and is 12.5cm wide at the top.
